ABOUT
COMFORT FOOD

The Founder

Hi! I’m Nia Froome, the founder of Comfort Food. I’m a proud P.S. 235 alum, and am currently pursuing an MBA at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. I’ve experienced firsthand the impact that a lack of access to healthy food options can have on individuals and communities, and I'm passionate about increasing healthy food access.

The Project

With Comfort Food, I aim to tackle this issue by providing affordable, convenient, and delicious healthy food options for communities that are often overlooked. We seek to honor the existing behaviors of the people we serve by selling foods that are both healthy and culturally familiar. These meals will be available for pickup at convenient locations.

By partnering with local restaurants and community organizations, Comfort Food aims to create a more socially impactful food system that promotes health equity and improves the health outcomes of communities suffering from chronic illnesses.

The P.S. 235 Pilot

We’re piloting the Comfort Food concept at P.S. 235 on Tuesday, April 4th and Wednesday, April 5th.

You can order healthy meals here on April 4th for only $7.99 per meal.

Meals will be available for pickup at P.S. 235 on April 5th from 2-3:30 PM.
