  • What is Comfort Food?

    Comfort Food is a project striving to increase access to healthy foods by providing affordable, convenient, and delicious healthy food options for communities that are often overlooked. We sell meals that are both healthy and respect food traditions. Meals are available for pickup at convenient locations, making eating healthy food an easy choice.

  • What is the P.S. 235 Pilot?

    We’re running a test of the Comfort Food concept at P.S. 235 in Brooklyn, NY.

    You can buy healthy, freshly prepared meals here from popular local restaurants on Tuesday, April 4th until 11:59 PM.

    Meals will be prepared and available for pickup on Wednesday 4/5 at P.S. 235 from 2 - 3:30 PM.

    We’ll also compensate individuals who are willing to share feedback on a brief call after the pilot.

  • What meals are for sale during the pilot?

    We are offering plant-based meals from Greedi Vegan and meat-containing meals from Brooklyn Suya for purchase.

    Orders must be placed by Tuesday 4/4 at 11:59 PM for pickup on Wednesday 4/5.

  • How much do the meals cost?

    Each meal is designed to serve one adult and costs $7.99. Individuals can order as many meals as they'd like to enjoy themselves or with their family.

    Note that we will also compensate participants who are willing to connect with us on a brief call about their experiences with $25 in exchange for their time.

  • Are the meals dietary restriction-friendly?

    Though we have shared some information regarding potential relevant allergens and sensitivities, we cannot ensure that cross-contamination will never occur. Please contact us if you’d like to discuss specific dietary restrictions.

    Gluten: Both vegan and plant-based meals are gluten-free, though not prepared in guaranteed Celiac friendly environments.

    Nuts: The chicken bowl from Brooklyn Suya contains peanuts and should be avoided by those with allergies.

    Dairy: Both vegan and plant-based meals are dairy-free

  • How will food pickup be arranged?

    Meals will be available for pickup at the entrance of P.S. 235’s Lenox Road location between 2 and 3:30 PM.

    Once you have placed an order, you’ll receive a confirmation email & number. We will also send you a text message on the morning of April 5th, which you can reply to if you have any issues with pickup.

    You’ll only need to provide your order number or name for meal pickup. Others can collect your meal on your behalf if they share both your order number and name.
